"A Nice Cuppa" tea after a wonderful adventure with family.

Good day friends,

How is everyone doing on this beautiful spring day? Today is suppose to be HOT! Like 26`C hot. Wow, that is not normal for spring in northern Canada. So, I do hope to get outside for a while to soak up some vitamin D.

Yesterday was a beautiful day too. For me it was one of the best days because I got to spend it with my husband and both our sons.... as well as some awesome friends :) We took a drive to the sand dunes which was the end result of excavating and moving a mountain to use as fill for a hydro dam. It was a short day of quadding and side-by-siding but I think we all enjoyed ourselves. In the second picture we are parked where, normally, the water is deep enough to swim. The dam's reservoir level is very low this year due to the minimal amount of snow this past winter. The distance was a good 400 feet between the water's edge to the log-jam at the edge of the beach. It was really interesting.

Well, enough about yesterday, today I want to share with you a card I made. I think it turned out quite pretty. I love the teacups stacked as though a tea party with the "besties" just finished up. I love everything about this card; the sentiment, the spoon handle poking out of the teacup, the teabag tag, and, of course, the precious little pearls that give it a bit a sparkle. The "A Nice Cuppa" stamp set and "Cups & Kettle" framelits dies are from Stampin' Up! along with the cardstock, vellum, baker's twine and pearls. I just love it!

There is one thing I do not like, and that is how my picture turned out. The colors just aren't right. I tried with three different types of lamps and each time it was discolored. But atleast this one wasn't extremely yellowish. I also attempted to fix it using Photoscape. I did resize it and play with the color a bit but honestly the photo does NOT do the card any favours at all. So, I am asking you, fellow creative friends, if you have any tips on how make my photos show off the beauty in the hand made card?

Thank you all for reading my blog, and please leave a comment to let me know you stopped in for tea.

Garage sale finds!

Hello Friends,

How are you all today?

Today hasn't been extremely creative for me but I managed to figure out how to change the font on my blog and add a profile picture to my google+ account, so I guess that counts for something.

I, also, made a quick trip to town to check out a friends table at a community garage sale. She had lots of beautiful paper crafting supplies, and I couldn't resist the urge to shop. It was hard but I limited myself to just 1 shopping bag of oh-so-glorious things. I would imagine the things I picked up are all retired products but I love them anyway. I picked a cute little corner punch to make little rectangular papers into tickets. I can't wait to use it! Also, I picked a few background stamps. One is a word search puzzle. Oh my creative mind is racing with ideas on what to make with that. For instance, it would make the neatest birthday card by circling the words happy & birthday, the month, and if it was for a sister, brother, daughter, son, mom, dad, or friend. Plus there are many, many more words to use like party, wish, shop, greetings, baby, love, kiss, alway........

Hey, look! I added a picture to the blog. Wow! Look at me learning. Lol!

I also picked up some QuicKutz alphabet sets. I love those. Yes, they are dated, but I think they are great. The new die-cut machines are wonderful but these work just as well for making letter cut-outs. Last but not least, I got some copic markers. Copics are the best! For blending anyway. I have recently learned that the Stampin' Up markers and Copic markers make a great team. If you are not familiar with how these 2 brands of markers can be used together then I will get you up to speed in my next post. So, check back soon.

I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!

Happy creating!!

Hi! I'm Misty

Hello!

I say "Hello!" with great enthusiasm because I am so very, very excited to be making my first blog post. Yay!

First, I want to introduce myself and tell you a tidbit about me, but not so much I put you to sleep... unless you are laying in bed in the middle of the night wishing you were sleeping ;).

A bit about me and my loved ones

So, I am Misty. I would typically define myself as a wife and mother. Yup, that's it... a wife and mother, period. Who could not love a job built around LOVE? In my humble opinion, I think it is the bestest (yes, bestest!) job in the entire universe. My husband, Troy, is the best thing that has ever happened in my life, and I am so lucky that he picked me to shoot cupids arrow at. I'm pretty certain you will hear more about him and our adventures soon. Together we created two awesome sons. Drew, our oldest son, is turning out to be an amazing man. Next week he will to finish up the Heavy Duty Mechanic program at the local college to be fully certified in a passion he has had since he touched a wrench at age two. Basically, if Drew's hands are black with grease he is smiling from ear to ear. Our youngest son, is in grade ten and has a passion for vehicles too but in a smaller fashion. Beau loves remote control (RC) vehicles. It's amazing to watch him work with the tiny little parts. I was worried that a project like a RC "kit" would be to complicated for him, so I insisted that his dad assist him at all times. Long story short, Beau was amazing at it and Dad got to watch. lol. Not to forget our furry family I want to lovingly mention Scrappy, our 11 year old Shih-tzu dog, and Lucy, our 6 year old black cat. More on them later.

The real reason for my blog.

Now that the little bit of housekeeping is done I want to get in to the real reason for starting this blog and why I named it Creating with Misty. I have always had a thirst for artsy-fartsy, crafty-drafty stuff. I know that doesn't make sense but that is my point. Arts and crafts are about having fun. If the only rhyme I can think of sounds odd that is okay because I'm exercising my creative juices and that is my goal. I want to let my creativity have a life....  to let it be free to explore and make things up. I want to come together with others that have the same dream. I want to build a community of positivity and inspiration for us to share with each other. I do not want to limit the creative ideas to drawing and painting, or scrapbooking and card making, or jewelry and pottery. I want to leave it open for everything. Maybe a desire for cooking a delicious dessert will tickle my fancy, or perhaps I will crochet a warm scarf. With me there is always something new just around the corner. I love mixing things up and trying new things. I want to learn it with you. Therefore I kept the blog title general to all things creative.

I thank each and every one of you for reading my first blog post. I am so excited to learn how to blog. My next step is learning to add photos. Hmmmm, what should I create to photograph and post next? Any thoughts? It will be something I make in my crafting room. I can guarantee that. Wish me luck!

Please leave me a message in the comments. I would love for you introduce yourself and share any tips you might have for me.

See you soon
Happy creating!
